Work From Home - Stay Connected!

We asked our customers to share their tips, stories and perspectives on how to stay connected when working from home during COVID-19.  We thank all who shared and hope our viewers will find this information of value.

Using a zoom morning chat with our staff. Slack for messaging. VPN to a gateway machine and RDP & VNC from there for access to machines at the mothership studios. TeamViewer for access to destinations outside of our VPN coverage. Also using WebEx for group communications where feasible. Document the steps for this stuff because it's easy to forget critical steps.

I am very fortunate to work for Talley Inc. We were ahead of the curve with technology to work remotely. Now, both my husband (also a Talley employee) are working from home. In our spare time we are working on a script for the newest PBS series; "Remote Office Upstairs (me), Remote Office Downstairs (Larry)". We are making the best of working from home where every day is Bring Your Dog to Work Day!

At MRC, we have a number of people working from home. In person meetings for Sales/service and management have changed to Google hangouts. We used to have Pizza Friday's on the first Friday of the Month, now we do this via video. All our personal phones are connected via IP to the office, Customers have no idea we are answering from our homes.

Teleworking has gone viral. People that have jobs that cannot Telework are at a disadvantage in this Covid19 environment. The key to successful distance working is a good internet connection to support the mobile environment. Email, teleconferencing, instant messaging, printing, telephone and scanning are the tools needed for communication. These tools work best with a good internet capabilities.

"It’s not about how hard you can hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." We all have been hit hard but I've noticed so many communities coming together to help each other. Working from home has saved life.

Facetiming with friends & family. Creating a new routine - there's lots of online workouts & meditations that are free right now. Cooking & baking has become relaxing & rewarding.

Keep an open mind and stay flexible; go for a walk; daily video chats with your team helps a lot
